Freestyle rap is a way of lyrical writing and/or battling each other in a way thats not a conventional mainstream rap instrumental like what you hear on the radio. Most rap beats for freestyle are straight up beats, without hooks or pre-chorus sections. Regular rap hip hop instrumentals are 3:30 min or longer and have 3 or 4 hook sections for a typical top 40 type song. A Freestyle instrumental beat would only have an intro, then the beat looped for a minute or 2 then an outro ending which is not your typical style hip hop track.
