Exclusive vs. Non Exclusive Rights

Non Exclusive vs Exclusive Rights

We don’t remove non exclusive beats for $4.95 - $40.00 that would put us out of business. The non exclusive concept is to allow people to have access to great beats to test out the song they (you) write with them. If you are feeling it’s a hit, you should buy the exclusive rights and move forward with it, then we remove them so no one else can purchase them.

When you purchase a track, it’s non exclusive, meaning, you are buying a lease (permission) to use it for your own personal use. You cannot use it commercially like iTunes, or take it to a record label claiming ownership.

You can use it, make a song, and copyright your lyrics etc, but a label/publisher will need producer information to do anything with it. That’s called exclusive use. Or an exclusive license.

You can use a non exclusive beat for all kinds of things. Demos, mixtapes, public shows (talent etc), videos, contests, demo to show record label or publisher, radio play(1), background music, instructional videos, tutorials, and many more.

We just ask for written/link with producer/site credit. i.e. Beat Produced By 20DollarBeats.com LLC

The beats listed on the regular site (20DollarBeats.com) are non exclusive. This means that you get permission to sell it on your own or do shows or mixtapes etc, but not sell it commercially.

If you want to own the rights to make a profit from our music on a commercial level, you would need exclusive rights. This includes iTunes, YouTube Videos with Monetization, CDBaby sales etc..

If you want to purchase the beat and have no royalties, that’s called a “buyout” and those are priced a bit more since the producer will no longer be able to lease it at all. (see below)

So if or when you want exclusive rights, just contact us to request a price and availability We’ll get back to you pretty quickly.

Exclusive Rights

You cant actually “own” the instrumental. When you purchase the “exclusive rights” of a track we sell, you get full permission from us to profit from it on a commercial scale (sites like Amazon, CDBaby, iTunes and more)

Exclusive prices vary per beat and producer. We provide prices by request. We are currently working on a new exclusive site. Here’s a link to the small one with a bunch available. http://exclusiverapbeats.com/

When you buy exclusive rights, the beat is also removed from all sites and never again sold to anyone after that.

Here’s more info on exclusives if you feel like getting the rights to a beat you leased.

The price for exclusive rights is normally much higher than any non-exclusive license for music instrumentals/beats. The price for exclusive rights and the price for non exclusive lease rights carries a variance determined by the value for ownership of music vs non-exclusive, mechanical usage within the boundaries of the license agreement it was purchased under. Moreover, the value of owning exclusive rights to music is a premise and provides justification for the price being much higher. The music is taken off the market and nobody else can use the track without prior consent from the new rights holder upon executing the exclusive transfer of rights for the music.

Exclusive rights varies depending on the beat/producer.
Prices range from $450-$1500. (plus s&h)

1. You get contracts to sell the track you make for profit.
2. It’s removed from the site so no one else can use it.
3. You get un-compressed wav files.
4. Separated production tracks so you can re-mix or have it mastered professionally with your vocals.
5. It’s also shipped on disk so you have a full backup of all files used for the track.

Non exclusive tracks do not allow you to sell your track for money commercially. They are also compressed mp3 files and are not high quality like the wav files.

After a payment is made, we’ll send you the contracts to sign and return. Then after we get them back, I’ll ship the signed contract and disk using USPS mail and you will need to sign for it.

There is a $9.95 s&h fee as well.

When you buy a non exclusive beat (from the site) you will get a link after payment.
You will then have 24 hours to download it as mp3 only

If you are NOT from the USA, we would need to do things differently for payment because it’s expensive
for us to ship the disk and get signatures in other countries. We suggest paying with Western Union or MoneyGram
for this, it will keep the costs down and speed the process up for getting the disk.
If you pay with Western Union or MoneyGram, we can supply a digital download of the files instead of a physical disk.
